MEI Development Workshop @ mdw, 18-20th January 2024 (in-person / remote)

The Department of Music Acoustics – Wiener Klangstil at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna will be hosting an MEI Developer Workshop from the 18th to 20th of January, 2024. Everyone interested in contributing to the MEI schema, documentation, and associated tools is invited to participate. The workshop is intended for those with prior experience with XML markup and tools, and will not feature tutorial sessions or presentations – instead, the focus will be on collaborative hands-on development.
Workshop attendance is free; however, please register via the form linked above by January 7th, 2024 (AoE) to assist us in planning. All expenses associated with attending are the responsibility of the individual participant.
In-person participation
The workshop will take place in the Seminar Room (M1.07) of the Dept. of Music Acoustics – Wiener Klangstil (IWK), located on the first floor of the M building of the main mdw campus - see campus map. The campus is located at Anton-von-Webern-Platz 1, 1030 Vienna (3rd district), and is readily accessible via the U-Bahn station Landstraße, Wien Mitte, and via the O-tram stop Sechskrügelgasse - see this route planner provided by the Vienna Lines (Wiener Linien) or consult your favourite online map provider, and consult information on purchasing public transport tickets.
Remote participation
Remote participation via Zoom and Slack will gladly be accommodated. Please still use the registration form (linked above) to register. You will receive an e-mail with all necessary information to connect to the workshop closer to the event.
Schedule
The workshop schedule is anticipated to run from 9:00 to 17:30 CET (UTC+1) on Thursday and Friday, and 9:00 to 17:00 on Saturday. Scheduling specifics will be decided collaboratively as the workshop progresses.
An additional day focusing on development around the MEI tablature module will take place on Monday, 22nd of January. This day will be open to E-LAUTE project members and invited guests.
