  • Einfluss verschiedener Teile eines Musikinstrumentes auf Intonation und Klang
  • Ansprache und Spieltechnik, zum Beispiel Untersuchungen zum Einfluss der Ventile auf die Mikrostruktur von Bindungen
  • zum Einfluss des Feinstimmers auf den Klang von Violinen
  • zum Einfluss des Stachelmaterials auf den Klang und die Ansprache von Violoncelli etc.
  • Konzeption und Entwicklung eines Admittanz-Messystems für Streichinstrumente (VIAS ).

Wurde aufgrund seiner stark praxisbezogenen Forschungstätigkeit von der New York Times als "Mr. Wizard" für MusikerInnen bezeichnet.

Numerous Concerts, partially as soloist in Europe (Amsterdam, Budapest, Hamburg, London, Mailand, München, Prag, Rom, Zürich, etc.), Asia (Bangkok, Hongkong, Singapore, Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, etc.), the USA and Canada (New York, Toronto, Vancouver, etc.) and many recordings with the Vienna Volksopera Orchestra and the Ensemble Capella Academica Vienna (partially as soloist) with Polygram, Deutsche Grammophon Archiv Produktion, EMI, Teldec, Amadeo, Nippon Columbia, etc.

1974-1986 Intensive activities concerning the historic based interpretation of the Music of the Viennese Classic and Baroque era with authentic instruments (hand horn) with the "Ensemble Melkus" and the "Capella Academica Wien". From 1974 - 1986 Executive Director of the Capella Academica Wien.

1978-1986 Foundation and Management of the "Konzertvereinigung Wiener Volksopernorchester". Organisation of Concert Tours to Europe, Asia, and America and organisation of numerous CD-Recordings.

Scientific Activities

Founder of the scientific research field "Musical Acoustics" in Austria. Adaption of scientific physical measuring methods for the investigation of the functionality of musical instruments.
1980 Foundation of the "Institut für Wiener Klangstil" at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna as a research institute with the explicit mandate for support to musicians and instrument maker.
1983 Conception and realisation of an analog input impedance measuring system for brass wind instruments.
1989 Conception and worldwide leadoff realisation of the digital BIAS system.
